More than the Elementary School experience at French Creek School for me was the bigger experience of childhood. I started in 1949-’50 when there were only two rooms and the plumbing was outdoor. Our parents arrived in 1945 and our youngest brother Henry still has the family home on Shidler Rd. From oldest to youngest our family consisted of Margaret, Barbara, Trudi, John and Henry. Margaret started in school in 1947-’48 and Henry started Grade 1 in 1954-’55. Memories of elementary school remind of how much more evolved we have become since that time 63 years ago.
