Gingerbread

Lois Clelland

During my seven years teaching at French Creek Community School I had the privilege of teaching Kindergarten and Grade 1. To orient my new class to the school we always made a gingerbread man and every year he ran away. The children enjoyed reading the clues he left while searching the school for possible clues to where he might have gone. He was always spotted leaving a few crumbs behind and every year he was found in Mrs. Graves’s office with a reminder to walk down the halls. The children enjoyed this experience and the event was often recalled during our Grade 5 Farewell assembly.
